What is the difference between Lite and Pro?
Lite is a full-featured dev client — free forever. It covers all 8 protocols, the workflow editor, AI assistant, MCP server, a database client (8 drivers), LAN file sharing, and browser automation (currently in beta, free for everyone during v1.0). Pro adds the cloud-hosted layer: monitoring, hosted API docs, the CI/CD test reports dashboard, and cloud sync.
Is Lite really free, forever?
Yes — all Lite features are free with no time limit, no credit card, and no account required. We mean it. Local-first is a core design principle, not a marketing trick.
When will Pro and Team plans be available?
Not yet — there is no billing system in v1.0, which is why every paid plan shows "Coming soon." v1.0 ships as a free, full-featured client (everything in Lite, plus browser automation in beta). Paid plans will follow once billing is in place.
What is the refund policy?
There is nothing to pay for yet — v1.0 is free. Once paid plans launch, the policy is 14 days, no questions asked: request a refund within 14 days of any charge and we will process it without needing a reason.
Does Rostyman need an internet connection?
Yes — Rostyman's core is fully local. API testing, databases, file sharing, and browser automation (beta) all run without an internet connection. Two caveats: the AI assistant needs internet unless you point it at a local Ollama model, and the Pro cloud-hosted services (monitoring, hosted docs, cloud sync) require a connection by nature.
What data does Rostyman collect?
Anonymous usage analytics — on by default, with a one-time notice on first launch and a one-click disable (also in Settings → Privacy). It is tied to a hashed device ID (a random UUID, SHA-256 hashed — not your identity) and covers things like app version, OS, screen resolution, session duration, and which features you used in a session (e.g. "used GraphQL", "used AI"). We never collect your request URLs, headers, bodies, API keys, collection names, environment variables, response data, or anything personally identifiable. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Is there a student or open-source discount?
There will be, once Pro launches: 50% off Pro Personal for students and educators (verified via .edu email or school domain), and free Pro Personal for active open-source maintainers (GitHub repo with ≥100 stars). Until then v1.0 is free for everyone. Reach out to [email protected].
